This project is being is being led by Elizabeth Jones, Senior Learning Technologist in the Centre for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT).

What is the purpose of the study?

The project is seeking different voices of staff and students to gain a better understanding of how we can best use Panopto to support teaching and learning.

Why have I been invited?

All staff and students at USW have been invited to participate in this study through emails, online and digital marketing.

Do I have to take part?

Participation is entirely voluntary. You are not required to complete this survey. If you have any questions about the study not answered in this information please contact the researcher before completing it. Elizabeth Jones, Senior Learning Technologist, CELT, B121, Treforest Campus. 01443 654852.

What am I being asked to do?

The project leader would like to invite you to complete a survey about your experiences of and thoughts about lecture capture, Panopto and other audio/video tools as part of teaching and learning at USW.  Even if you've never heard of or used Panopto we'd still like to hear from you. The project is seeking different voices of staff and students to gain a better understanding of how we can best use Panopto to support teaching and learning.

How is my data being managed and what might you use it for?

The survey is completely anonymous and no personal data will be collected or stored. The survey is being carried out using a Online Surveys, a tool specifically designed for academic research that is fully compliant with GDPR and data protection laws.

Data from the survey will be downloaded and analysed on university managed systems and will be accessible only to the researcher and their line manager. Survey data will be kept for 5 years after the completion of the report before being deleted.

Any data collected during the survey will be used as part of the final Panopto Review project report. The researcher will use this data to gain insight into how staff and students use and feel about the various features that Panopto supports in order to recommend how we can best promote and make use of its various features.

A final project report will be written up and shared within the institution and possibly outside. The original data from this research will not be shared publicly with the report but may be used to inform similar learning technology projects within USW. We will ensure anonymity if any data is used in any further research.

What if I don’t want to take part or I change my mind later?

Your participation is entirely voluntary. If you choose not to complete the survey your data will not be recorded. As the survey is completely anonymous it is not possible to withdraw your participation after the survey have been completed as we cannot identify any individual's contribution.
